Nationality: British

Date of Birth: 18th April 1989

What is your most memorable moment in your sports?

The moment I first surfed Mullaghmore, Ireland was quite incredible. That wave sparked my big wave career and is continuing to do so. Results wise I've held multiple British and English titles, placed 3rd in Europe twice (all shortboard titles). Big wave achievements would included WSL xxl big wave partnership win with Sebastian. This year we rode Nazare hard, surfing the biggest waves of the year globally. My 5th place finish (with Ian Mitchinson as photographer) in this years WSL Barrel of the year contest (again Mullaghmore head) and placing 2nd in my first big wave event at La Vaca Giganta invitational against 32 of Europe's best big wave surfers.

Favourite conditions?

When it gets above 10 ft I really start to smile. All waves I'm smiling in, but I love the ocean when she starts to tip into second gear!

Favourite toys?

The Jet Ski has been crucial in many of my big wave stories not just tow surfing but from a safety point of view the jet ski, rescue sled and never forgetting the trusted driver has really played a key role in my safe return to shore. The Urban Beach van needs a mention also. It's such a solid vehicle and has plenty of room for all my kit!

What is your diet like?

My diet is good, what you put in is what you get out that old motto. I try to eat 4,000 calories per day when I'm training full time. That is around 4 solid meals a day and snacks in between. It's pretty much train, eat, eat, train, eat, stretch, eat sleep < that would be a perfect performance day.

What things do you currently do in your training that are key to your success?

This years been a funny one as I've had a few injuries. It's the first time in my career I've been forced to put my feet up! Right now I'm on the best training programme ever. My friend's company Sudeste Sports have worked with me to develop the perfect training programme suited for my sport. It's based around gymnastics training but also includes weights, swimming, board paddling, etc.. I can't give too much away but training is going perfect with Pablo!

Best advice anyone’s ever given you?

Show no face!

Do you have a saying or motto you live life by?

Winners take chances

What is your biggest challenge, and how do you manage it?

Probably like most the dollar is what sometimes holds me back. Big wave surfing is an expensive sport. Sometimes I can't go to a swell as I don’t have the money to chase it. I fix it by tirelessly trying to improve and meet new sponsors that might like to support my career.

What would be your ultimate achievement?

To be a world champion.

Anything else you would like to share?

I'm a charity ambassador for the Wave Project and the Joe Way Paddle for life. Two brilliant charities that deserve a mention and for any readers to check out!
